Hmmm, dont know if this explanation is going to fly with Missouri voters this fall. I voted against you having more money in your paychecks because pharmaceutical companies received a tax windfall that helps them research and develop more life saving drugs. How many of these pharmaceutical companies gave part of their tax windfalls back to their employees in the form of bonuses? Also, how smart is it to still clinging to President Obama in a state that went so heavily for Donald Trump in 2016?
The pharmaceutical industry took a $50 billion windfall from that bill, gave it to their shareholders and didn’t lower the price of prescription drugs a penny,” McCaskill says. McCaskill, who spoke to reporters at Wednesday’s labor rally outside the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City, says 83 percent of the money will go to one percent of the country, under the bill. McCaskill also says $1.8 trillion in debt has been added in the last six months, under Republican leadership in Washington. “All I heard from my Republican colleagues before they took power was deficit, deficit, deficit,” says McCaskill. “And they’ve blown this deficit up to places that one couldn’t even imagine it could go.” U.S. Rep. Jason Smith, R-Salem, views the tax cut differently. Read more…
Yes, as we’ve seen, most Democrats WILL gladly place their ideological beliefs and their Party over their ountry without batting an eyelash. But what makes this unusual is that Congressman Clay and Congresman Cleaver are putting Black Lives Matter -and for once their own constituents – above Party loyalty – for the time being.
“I’m going to vote for Claire, but Claire is going to have to bring her ass to St. Louis,” Franks said to applause at a town hall he hosted Feb. 17. In response to Franks comments, McCaskill had asked African American elected officials in Kansas City and St. Louis to sign the letter. Among those who were approached by McCaskill are U.S. Reps. Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City and Lacy Clay of St. Louis, and state Rep. Gail McCann Beatty, the minority leader in the Missouri House. Each declined to sign. Read more…
“Claire McCaskill has been my friend and colleague for more than 30 years,” Clay said in an email. “She has my strong support and helping her win in November will be my top priority, along with my reelection to the U.S. House.” – Rep. Lacy Clay
Here’s a surprise filiing. Former two term St. Louis County councilman and chairman John Campisi is reentering politics after a ten year hiatus. he has thrown his hat in the ring for the job of Jefferson County Circuit Clerk. Jefferson County is an important county for the Missouri Republican Party this year according to St. Louis Public Radio.
While Jefferson County is traditionally Democratic, voters have increasingly cast their ballots for Republicans in recent election cycles. If those recent trends continue, it’s not a good sign for Democrats like McCaskill or Galloway: In 2008, 2012 and 2016, statewide candidates that won Jefferson County also won their respective elections. Judge Burlison in the Governor Greitens’ case has decided to let justice take it’s course. Marc Cox says he’s surprised, Chris Arps says that he’s not.
Sen. Claire McCaskill had choice words for Hillary Clinton for comments the former secretary of state made in India last month about people who voted for President Donald Trump in the 2016 election. Clinton should “show respect to every American voter,” regardless of how they voted in 2016, McCaskill said. “For those of us that are in states that Trump won, we would really appreciate if she would be more careful and show respect to every American voter and not just the ones who voted for her,” McCaskill said in an interview on MSNBC Sunday. A very interesting article from a fromer special prosecutor who worked for Ciruit Attorney Kim Gardner and was fired by the Gardner at the beginnig of her tenure last year.
I have served the city of St. Louis for almost 45 years, both as a uniformed police officer and as a prosecutor. I finished out my career as a Special Prosecutor following 13 years as chief of homicide prosecutions. In all those years, serving with five separate Circuit Attorneys — including the current Circuit Attorney, Kim Gardner — I have never seen a Grand Jury be led to return an indictment without evidence of all of the elements of the crime being committed by the accused. The only exception is the case of the indictment brought against Governor Eric Greitens.
A bit of background: The State alleges that, almost three years ago, the Governor took a compromising photograph of a woman with whom he had an affair and transmitted it. That’s the charge on which the indictment is based, and that’s why, as a long-time prosecutor, I’m stunned that there’s any indictment in this case at all. Why? Because right out of the gate, in court, the State admitted they do not have the photograph purported to have been taken and no evidence that it was transmitted. They are simply asking you to believe such acts occurred because they wish it so.
Mr. Owens wrote a previous ebook published in August 2012 with the title, “It’s All About Team: Exposing the Black Talented Tenth.”The book examines how the black community has fared since the start of the twentieth century, especially in following the thinking of W. E. B. Dubois and progressive liberalism.
Adam Schwadron is a Republican candidate running for election director for St. Charles County. Schwadron is hoping, along with four other candidates, to replace long time director Rich Chrismer Sr.
Marc and Chris Arps discuss how Kim Gardner has overstepped her authority on hiring a special prosecutor who has also been granted to bring other people in to the case against Governor Greitens. Gov Greitens legal team says that this goes against state law.
According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, either Kim Gardner is lying or the St. Louis Police chief is lying because he states his department was never asked to investigate:
“Gardner’s office said it sought an out-of-state firm after St. Louis police and federal investigators rebuffed a request to investigate Greitens…The St. Louis police chief says that his department was not asked to investigate. Federal officials declined to comment.”Read more…
Marc Cox and Chris Arps disuss if its proper to have the St. Louis Circuit Attorney use an out of state private investigator (that owes back taxes and back corporate filings) to investigate Governor Eric Greitens?
