With this total disregard for the taxpayer, we’re supposed to believe that liberals like Clay really care about our $14 trillion deficit? We’ve chronicled here and here Clay’s lack of concern for other people’s money.

“I need an automobile to get around my district,” said Congressman William “Lacy” Clay, arriving at a groundbreaking in Pagedale in a Ford Hybrid SUV paid for by taxpayers.  Clay confirmed he’s paying $800 a month out of his congressional office budget for rental cars to get around the district. “According to the rules of the House, I am allowed to lease a car out of my office budget and I do that for my in-district matters.” Read more….

Wouldn’t it be cheaper instead to use your own cars and just charge the government for mileage?
