Tea Party Movement is NOT Collapsing

October 23rd, 2009 by mopns · No Comments

Mr. Tuohey, you just don’t get it! Tea Party people are activists, not strategists. It is also not a Republican movement but a movement born to save our country from Obama’s socialist policies.

Missouri Record blog:

I fear we are witnessing the collapse of the Tea Party movement.  Today, in St. Louis, activists Dana Loesch and Bill Hennessy plan to call on Missouri political leaders to comment on a political race in the 23rd Congressional District of New York–800 miles away.

Asking them to focus on distant races in which they cannot directly participate will not only facilitate this collapse, it may be completely ineffectual.  Voters in Potsdam and Fulton and Oswego care as much about voters in Mehlville and Oakville and Webster Groves as we care about them.  Worse than ineffectual, it risks alienating voters wary of outside influences. The Tea Party movement is nowhere near collapsing, they simply don’t want anymore Senators’ like Snow, Collins and Spector constantly stabbing them in the back. Collapsing? Not when you read numbers like these.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 73% think Republicans in Congress have lost touch with GOP voters from throughout the nation. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided.

Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Republican voters have a favorable opinion of the party’s national chairman, Michael Steele, while 27% regard him very unfavorably. However, 35% don’t know what they think of Steele.

Loesch and Hennessy have every right to demand where Missouri’s Republican leaders and candidates stand on the issues. The Republican candidate in New York’s 23rd district race was chosen in a smoke filled backroom! She’s a liberal – plain and simple! The independent Conservative Party candidate is surging in the polls.

Come on you guys! We have a state that McCain carried last year, and that has Republican majorities in both houses of the legislature. Yet of six state-wide elected offices, five are held by Democrats, and we have a Democrat U.S. Senator. You think it’s a great plan for us to worry about who holds congressional seats in upstate New York and who the Senators are from Maine? However you view the tea party movement, an approach like that is ineffectual and, as Mr. Touhey says, may be counterproductive. Imagine how Missourians would take it if a whole bunch of people from Maine showed up next year and told us to vote for Robin Carnahan. The Blunt campaign would probably love it. What makes you think people in New York or Maine want our input?

You’ve got to be kidding me! People have been busting their butts for YEARS making sure that Missouri is a RED STATE, and you clowns come along and organize a couple rallies and now think that you run not only the Missouri GOP but the NATIONAL GOP? Get Real! Go home and change your diapers and call us when you finally figure out how politics works.
