St. Louis Loses Dem Convention: Is Brian Wahby Responsible?

February 1st, 2011 by mopns · No Comments

Brian Wahby, co-chair of the St. Louis Host Committee

Well, it looks like St. Louis is out of the running for the 2012 Democrat convention. It was announced this morning that St. Louis was bypassed for Charlotte, North Carolina. Although their platform doesn’t necessarily line up with ours, having the convention in St. Louis would have been a great economic boost for the city and the state.

We now say let the blame games begin! We’re left wondering if local control advocate and host committee co-chair Brian Wahby’s John Temporiti thug tactics cost the city the convention? The 24th state blog outlined last week how three female legislators were strong armed by Whaby prior to the local control hearing:

I was told by another state Representative that when he assured a policeman in the hall outside the House Chambers that he supported continued state control, 7th Ward Committeeman Brian Wahby was standing nearby and he stated “You won’t be around after your next Primary.”

Sure doesn’t inspire a lot of goodwill and unity does it? Isn’t that what you’re supposed to have at national political convention? On his trip to Jeff City last week, maybe Mr. Wahby should have kept an extra couple of ribs in his pocket to stick in his mouth whenever he felt the urge to threaten public officials of his own party.

This is really exciting! I am planning a trip Charlotte, NC. We southerners get a bad reputation sometimes, and I know this is an excellent for the democrats.
