Post Dispatch Attempts to Bail Out “AAA Charlie”

With the loss of 43,000 jobs lost under St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley’s watch, it must be nice to have a willing accomplice in the media to pump up a non news story such as this:

St. Louis Post Dispatch:

The pharmacy benefit manager, based in north St. Louis County, is mulling another expansion that would add 150 jobs and a $63 million investment, according to the St. Louis County Economic Council.

A spokeswoman for the company was not immediately available for comment. In June, Express Scripts opened a $74 million drug distribution center in NorthPark.

This project is not a done deal; Express Scripts is apparently also considering other sites. To keep the expansion in St. Louis, the County Economic Council is requesting local property tax breaks for Express Scripts, and said state incentives will also likely be requested.

Boy, to give this story some credibility, you would have thought they would have at least waited for a company spokesman to confirm the story before running with it. So Express Scripts gets property tax breaks while homeowners pay out the nose? This certainly doesn’t sound like anything definite to us! Is St. Louis County Express Script’s spokesman now? We know you have deadlines to keep and this important “news” needs to be out before tomorrow’s election, but could you not look like such an obvious cheerleader? Shame!
