“Mr. Temporiti is a very good friend of mines. What he do in his private life is not my business. I don’t know that.” — Charlie Dooley
Incredibly, that was Mr. Dooley’s answer when he was asked yesterday during his KMOX debate with Bill Corrigan if he was aware that his current campaign manager and former close aide John Temporiti’s law firm had represented one of the trash haulers that eventually ‘won’ a county trash contract.
Not to be outdone by his boss’ outlandish comment, Temporiti offered up this whopper of his own when he was asked if his relationship with Dooley influenced the county executive’s decision making regarding trash contracts: “I have never told a client that I have Charlie’s ear.”

St. Louis American: “Rex and Charlie”
Another bipartisan odd couple that has emerged this midterm election season is Republican billionaire financier Rex Sinquefield and Democratic County Executive Charlie A. Dooley, who faces a spirited challenge on Nov. 3 from Republican nominee Bill Corrigan.
For six days in a row, Sinquefield donated an attention-grabbing $5,001 to Dooley’s campaign. Why? Why would Sinquefield gives so much to a Democratic county executive with a credible Republican challenger? And why give the money in brazen way that it gets reported six days in a row by the state election commission? Why?
We asked around. Here are some answers.
A black Democratic operative: “John Temporiti handled the transaction. I have no idea what the deal was/is. John was/is desperate for money. I don’t know what the deal was. I know Rex doesn’t spend money for nothing. It might be for a player to be named later.”
