STL Metropolitan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce: “A Firing in Political Dressing”

September 14th, 2009 by mopns · No Comments

“Jay Nixon has been unable to fight for Missourians on the economy because he is too busy fighting with his own staff.” – MRP Statement

Well, we predicted this morning a severe backlash from Hispanic leaders once Linda Martinez was finally fired:

“The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is extremely disappointed in Gov. Nixon. We were hoping that Gov. Nixon was not going to be politics as usual and do what needed to be done to (improve) Missouri’s economic development.”

According to Martinez’s resignation letter, Nixon didn’t even have the common decency to meet with the woman on how to “reconcile [their] different views on how to move the state that we both love forward.”

Can you really expect much more from a governor who would fire a state employee on the same day they were scheduled to donate a kidney?

I’m not a huge fan of Martinez, but yes, firing her on the same day as a kidney donation and not even meeting with her to discuss the issues that arose is despicable.
