“Jay Nixon has never stood up for black people. He’s never done anything positive. He’s always been a coward.” – St. Louis Alderman Charles “Quincy” Troupe
“That’s, unfortunately, Jay’s legacy.” –Former Senate Minority Leader Maida Coleman
In another cold and calculating slap at his African American constituency, Governor Nixon today removed the only African American curator (attorney Cheryl Walker) on the University of Missouri’s Curator’s board, and replaced her with St. Joseph newspaper publisher David Bradley. Nixon also appointed former lawmaker Wayne Goode to the Democratic slot. Does Gov. Nixon have a political tin ear, or does he just not respect African Americans?
What’s equally sad is that if you read the news accounts of this development, not one mention that Ms. Walker’s departure leaves no African American representation on the board. Is it because she’s an African American Republican? Sources tell us that this is the first time in recent memory that this has occurred.
*Note: This will be the first time since 1971 that there will not be an African-American on the Board of Curators. Governors’ Ashcroft and Holden appointed two African-Americans to the Board of Curators.

Why does any appointment have be race based. It is an appointive position; he can appoint anyone he chooses!

Didn’t Cheryl Walker attend the university as well? We need different opinions and outlooks
