Cantanese Gets a “D” for Drive By Reporting

March 30th, 2009 by mopns · No Comments

Since it seems Mr. Cantanese is going to continue with his weekly asinine grading system for Governor Nixon, we’d like to offer our own grade of Canatnese’s recent poor reporting. Last Friday, he reported on a Missouri Senate poll conducted by a very reputable polling firm out Oklahoma, Wilson Research Strategies. In the poll, WRS found that Robin Carnahan led both Roy Blunt and Sarah Steelman in potential match ups. The poll also apparently found that Mr. Blunt had some weaknesses. From Cantanese’s post:

The poll, taken between March 7-9, surveyed 600 likely voters in Missouri. It has a margin of error of 4 percent. The numbers also reveal that although Blunt is much more well-known than Steelman, he carries higher negatives among independents and Democrats. Pollster Chris Wilson said the results highlight Blunt’s inherent weakness as a candidate.

“My conclusion is that he starts out with serious issues that are difficult to overcome in the general election, if not the primary,” said Wilson in an interview.

On the other hand, the data also reveals that Blunt is stronger within his own party, and that Steelman plays better with “soft Democrats,” a potential liability in a GOP primary.

The Blunt campaign responded by calling WRS’s poll a “nasty push poll” (pretty much what you’d expect in a hotly contested Senate race). What was unexpected was the drive by character assassination Cantanese attempted on firm founder Chris Wilson. Cantanese digs up (We hope he found it himself!) a five year old story of a “business dispute “between Wilson and a former employer. Canatanese provides no details on if or how  the dispute was resolved, only the accusation from a five year old Oklahoma newspaper story.  We’ve seen Mr. Wilson on Fox and Friends, MSNBC, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck and a host of other nationally televised talking heads shows. One would think that is this guy was not credible, he wouldn’t be appearing regularly on these shows! This folks warrants a “D’ for Mr. Cantanese’s DRIVE BY REPORTING!
