Why the Fascination?

Is it just us, or is it getting nauseating reading the press corps’ soap opera fascination with the relationship between Kenny Hulshof and Sarah Steelman? We’d expect as much from hack blogs and cut and pasters, but this Britney Spears coverage is beneath even you. Here’s Steve Walsh from Missourinet:

I would love to be able to tell you something about Monday’s Jefferson City meeting between former Republican gubernatorial rivals Kenny Hulshof and Sarah Steelman. But there’s really nothing much to tell. Read more…

Is it really that slow right now? Most Republican activists and supporters have put the primary behind them and are now working to defeat Sen. Obama and the rest of the Democrat ticket. We will give you a suggestion for a great “rift” angle if you need one. Keep a focus this fall on the relationship between urban Democrats (specifically African Americans) and rural Democrats.

The national Democrat party and governor nominee Jay Nixon have already signaled where the bulk of the resources are going this cycle. Just look at all the offices Obama has opened in rural Missouri recently. And with Obama at the top of the ticket, Jay has all but assumed he has the Black vote locked up. When is the last time Jay’s been in the hood? What this will ultimately mean for Black operatives who are use to the DNC gravy train, is that around election time, there will be less “walking around money” to siphon off and to use for buying getting out the vote.
