Three major media outlets in Missouri today proved that Jay Boy Nixon is their man.

Believe it or not, the Associated Press, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star have joined Jay Boy’s e-mail lawsuit against Gov. Matt Blunt.

For the media to join this political with hunt under the guise of open records should send a chill through the few Missourians who still believed the media in the state was fair and impartial.

These media outlets have proved once and for all that they are Nixon’s patsies and will go to any length to attack Republicans.

Republicans can no longer expect a fair shake from a big city media intent on destroying us.

This is a dark, dark day for journalism in Missouri and for the political process.

When the media will spend their own money to join a candidate for governor in a lawsuit against the Republican governor, it tears at the very fabric of a free press.

A disgrace.

UPDATE: Here’s the complete AP story with this gem from Jay Boy’s ambulance chaser attorney Chet Pleban confirming our suspicions: “Pleban said the involvement of the three media outlets could help the investigators. ‘We welcome those parties with open arms, and it certainly highlights the significance of our lawsuit…'”

UPDATE(2) The following is a statement by Jared Craighead, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party:

“Just when we thought the big-city liberal media in Missouri couldn’t be any more biased, we learned today that the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star have joined Jay Nixon’s campaign for governor with their collaboration with Nixon’s operatives in a political lawsuit against the governor.

“Not only is this behavior laughable but it apparently would be a waste of time to point out the facts of the other side because it simply does not suit their liberal agenda and would actually require them to fully inform readers with news that would be harmful to Jay Nixon.”

“This shameful action continues a pattern of hypocrisy, miss-reporting and an organized campaign against the governor that began when the 2004 election did not go their way.”

“The Missouri Republican Party need only point out how the Missouri media went out of its way to avoid reporting on a lawsuit filed against Jay Nixon by a disabled state employee and now they have joined a lawsuit initiated by Nixon’s political operatives against the governor.

“Today’s action proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Post-Dispatch and the Star are in fact adjuncts of the Democrat Party and that Missouri Republicans should expect them to continue publishing biased, Democrat-leaning reports that support the agenda of Jay Nixon and Barack Obama in the 2008 election cycle.”
