EXCLUSIVE: Bond Office in Freefall?

October 23rd, 2007 by mopns · No Comments

After MOPNS broke the Van Eaton story yesterday the bond office is in spin control.

Look today for an announcement from the senior senator’s office stating that Jason Van Eaton and Matt Roney are “voluntarily” leaving in order to run Senator Bond’s campaign in 2010. (Doesn’t everyone leave 3 years out in order to run a campaign?)

In addition, Van Eaton/Roney will announce that they will be starting a lobbying shop and affiliating with a K.C. law firm.

Mike Collins, currently a Legislative Assistant, will be moved from the Washington D.C. office to be State Director. No word on if he will office out of Jefferson City or the new Columbia office that Van Eaton convinced the Senator he needed 2 years ago to stay closer to home. (Did we mention it is across from Harpos? Van Eaton has been heard bragging at more than one MU tiger tailgate about how the location has helped immensley in recruiting coed “interns”. Also no word on whether Collins will continue the Van Eaton tradition of happy hours on spring and fall Fridays inviting the coeds up for free beer to share with their rising star political intern sisters!)

No word on the specific type of lobbying that the Van Eaton/Roney shop will conduct. One MOPNS tipster speculates “these guys are prohibited from lobbying the Senate for one year due to ethics rules, where do they make their money? Watch for government building developments to be part of their portfolio. Wonder how Jack Craft will like that? The Bond office has had a strained relationship with Jack Craft over the past few months and it had the political world dizzy with theories. Those theory’s now have some clarity. Jack, of course, is Kit’s old friend from Kansas City and have enjoyed a great relationship for over 30 years. Not under the Van Eaton regime.”

This story is quickly developing…. the Missouri Political News Service will post more news after our tipster can step out of the Russell building for an update.

Correction Our source at the Russell Office building confirms that Legislative Assistant Mike Collins is taking Roney’s K.C. District Director’s job, not the state director’s job.

Good cover. You got it wrong yesterday so now you have to back track and take at least part of the truth and spin it your way.

    – should do better. Of course, yesterday’s story was just intended to be a slam on Van Eaton and you knew it wasn’t exactly truthful which again represents the work of -.

    Scooter,

Keep telling like it is. VanEaton is dirty and Bond just shook him lose. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of this.

“Scooter” would have to START telling it like it is before they/he could “keep” on doing it.
