The St. Louis Business Journal is reporting today that an independent accounting firm has released its annual survey of consumption taxes in the 50 states. According to the survey, Missouri has lower sales, gas and cigarette taxes than almost all of its neighbors.
This news comes on the heels of a report last month that Missouri’s net general revenue collections for the fiscal year through May were up 4.9 percent from last year.
