KC Star has a funny tidbit about Democrat Rep. Jonas Hughes:

JEFFERSON CITY | Rep. Jonas Hughes issued a statement recently trumpeting his appointments to two of the 13 conference committees writing the final versions of the state budget.

Hughes, a Kansas City Democrat, would “help ensure that the state of Missouri (has) accountability to the taxpayers …” the statement said. “The Department of Corrections should provide efficient service for those who are under its jurisdiction.”

One slight problem: Neither of those panels handled the Corrections Department. Hughes’ panels handled more than $2.2 billion in spending for the departments of Revenue and Transportation and Public Safety.

Oops.
