FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kansas City, Missouri—May 4, 2009Missourians for Responsible Government (MFRG), a 501(c)4 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rights of Missourians, limiting the size and scope of state and local government, protecting and expanding the free market, and promoting the idea that governments have authority only through the consent of the governed, has unveiled The Missouri Record, a Journal of Politics and Policy, at http://www.missourirecord.com.

“Despite daily newspapers and a plethora of politically-themed blogs, Missourians who are interested in learning about and discussing the issues facing our state have few places to go to share their thoughts and read the thoughts of others,” said Patrick Tuohey, Chairman of MFRG and editor of The Missouri Record.  “We believe The Missouri Record will meet that need and elevate the quality and quantity of political discourse in the Show-Me State.”

In addition to providing links to politically themed third-party news and web log sites, as is commonly done one such sites, The Missouri Record will publish unique news content and exclusive commentary.  Writers who already have agreed to provide exclusive commentary for the site include Shamed Dogan, a former staff member to Senator James Talent; Marcus Bowen, a senior at Mizzou and regular columnist for The Maneater, and J. Scott Christianson, a regular opinion writer for the Columbia News Tribune and former member of the Democrat Central Committee of Missouri.

The Missouri Record’s most important content will come not from regular contributors but from Missourians who wish to share their views on all sorts of topics important from our state, from taxation to civil rights, education to transparency,” said Tuohey.  ” Our goal is for The Missouri Record to be everyone’s journal.”

MFRG, which publishes The Missouri Record, is directed by Patrick Tuohey of Kansas City, Matt Hearne of St. Louis and Jason Barnes of Jefferson City.
