Hulshof Shoots Air Ball With Attack on Steelman’s “Wasteful Spending?”

July 23rd, 2008 by mopns · No Comments

Kenny playing hoops with the lobbyists in Washington D.C.

Congressman Kenny Hulshof is out with his first serious negative jab at Sarah Steelman today. In a post this afternoon on Dave Cantanese’s Ky3 Political Notebook blog – a blog many have suspected is in the tank for Mr. Hulshof because of all the recent “exclusives” Mr. Cantanese seems to receive from the Hulshof camp – Mr. Hulshof accuses Mrs. Steelman of “wasteful spending” when she was in the legislature:

Here’s an excerpt from Cantanese’s post:

“The Hulshof campaign is pointing to Steelman’s efforts as a State Senator to add a $133 million dollar spending provision to a nursing home reform bill back in 2000, in order to defeat it.

The facts indicate that Steelman abandoned conservative ideals long ago,” said Hulshof spokesperson Scott Baker, referring to the $133 million dollar spending provision as “so big, that one lawmaker said it would have created a state budget crisis.” The lawmaker that Baker refers to was Democratic Senator Wayne Goode.” Read more…

Lobbyists win!

It’s very smart of the Hulshof campaign to court a young, still green behind the ears reporter in voter rich southwest Missouri. But many political observers we’ve talked to say it is a big mistake for Hulshof to go down the road of attempting to point out Mrs. Steelman’s alleged “wasteful spending.”

“With all the successful hits Kenny has been taking from Sarah on earmarks, I’m sure they feel they have to respond, but in my opinion, they’re taking Roe’s bait and engaging in a debate they just can’t win. It’s taken them [Hulshof] a week to find one, eight year old earmark, Steelman has 11,000 of Kenny’s earmarks to selectively pick through. Say what you will about Roe’s history of gutter politics, this is good old fashioned political out maneuvering at its best!”

Lobbyists & Congressman Hulshof shake it out post game

Hulshof and Steelman are scheduled to debate tonight Springfield. We are working on having a correspondent there to live blog the debate for us. Stay tuned.

“Green behind the ears” reporter, coming from a second year law student?? Oh that’s rich, not to mention entertaining.

That’s pretty much what this site has become, entertainment tonight rather than any serious political info.

Jackson, what makes you think Scooter wrote this post?

The modus operandi on this site appears to be that unless it says J. Jameson that allegedly Scooter wrote the particular post.

However, as this site is also a dumping ground for the Barklage/Roe machine, Scooter might not have written the post at all. It could very well have come directly from Roe or any of the other inept people associated with this site such as Chris “what do you mean I have pay for kids I fathered” Arps or Sherman Parker.

Congressman Hulshof is your-run-of-the-mill Washington politician. He looked like a scared little boy at the debate the other night and if he somehow wins in August Jay Nixon will romp him.

He got blasted by Steelman and he said his exeutive experience included working as an intern in Washington???

    This guy is a joke

There are some who would say the same about Steelman only using other, gasp, terms.
