Coincidence? Zweifel Runs 59-page Self-Promotional Newspaper Ad One Day After Campaign Kickoff

June 24th, 2011 by mopns · No Comments

Taking a page from fellow Democrat Chris Koster on how to shamelessly promote yourself by basically doing the job you were elected to do, state treasurer Clint Zweifel has taken it to another level.

MRP press release:

One day after kicking off his re-election campaign in St. Louis, Clint Zweifel ran a 59-page advertisement in the St Louis Post-Dispatch.  The ad, which takes up 4 full sections of the paper, includes 62 mentions of Clint Zweifel’s name and his photograph featured prominently on the front page of the ad.

In 2010, Zweifel spent $632,000 to place advertisements in local newspapers including $265,000 to the Post-Dispatch.  At the time, a Post-Dispatch reader noted that the ads featured Zweifel’s name featured prominently on every page.

Zweifel has a history of self-promotion in conjunction with promoting the programs of the Treasurer’s office.  In addition to these over-the-top newspaper ads, Zweifel has run television spots starring himself advertising a college savings plan.

And these people want us to take them (Democrats) serious on fiscal matters?
