Whatcha hiding there Senator?

This is the type of frivolous an inane legislation you get when you’re a minority in the minority!

Missouri elected officials and their top staff members would be subject to mandatory drug testing under legislation filed by state Rep. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City.

Chappelle-Nadal said that lawmakers who support such a requirement should be willing to prove that they themselves are drug free. Read more…

First of all, drug testing’s constitutionality is dubious at best in our opinion. But we do support drug testing when it deals with people whose jobs require them to operate heavy machinery or be around children. That being said, and on a lighter note, we can support mandatory blood and alcohol/sobriety testing for former and current Democratic legislators and high level officials though:

I wonder if this is any relation to Senator Stouffer’s proposal of required drug testing of Welfare recipients…

They should not only take a drug test, they should take a lie detector test with questions designed to indicate their reasons and motives for wanting to be in the legislature. An IQ test would be nice too. In addition a full physical should be required with passing grades. No fat, no heart problems, no cancer, no anything. Any illness would disqualify a person from serving.

If sick, no way should the taxpayer be forced to subsidize a legislator’s health care, God knows that’s the loud and clear message these legislators have sent to US so turnabout is fair play. Let ’em die but for God’s sake don’t insure them! IT’S OUR MONEY FOLKS!!

What would smoking pot have to do with having a job with children or operating heavy machinery? As long as you’re not high on the job, I don’t understand why that’s a problem.
