Yesterday, we criticized Rep. Cleaver because we mistakenly thought that the Congressman didn’t ask any questions at the Wednesday’s House Financial Services inquisition of banking executives who had accepted TARP funds. In fact, Mr. Cleaver did ask a very thoughtful, insightful, and intelligent question. Kudos to the staff on this one! Here it is courtesy of Bank Think:
“Then there was Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., who asked Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein whether he believed “that warehouse lending is responsible.”
“You mean against a physical warehouse?” Mr. Blankfein sputtered.”
