A Springfield, Missouri neo-Nazi Group, the National Socialist Movement, was awarded two signs and a half-mile stretch of US 160 close to the Springfield city limits. All they have to do is pick up some trash a few times a year to keep their signs. This isn’t the first time a group known for their hateful rhetoric has participated in Missouri’s Adopt-A-Highway program. Missouri awarded Ku Klux Klan group a section of highway based on the First Amendment. (I happen to agree with the ruling.)
I bring this up because the government defends their First Amendment right to post a sign and pick up trash regardless of their rhetoric, while Democrats are working quickly to hush conservatives and Republicans with a new version of the Fairness Doctrine, which is probably ready to be signed into law hidden somewhere in Obama’s stimulus plan.
