Cunningham Garners Major Endorsements

July 11th, 2008 by mopns · No Comments

Rep. Jane Cunningham’s campaign for Missouri’s seventh Senate district announced today that it has garnered the support of several major organizations and an overwhelming number of Missouri legislators from the St. Louis area as well as colleagues in key leadership positions.

Cunningham’s recent endorsements include a majority of local area state legislators, including Rep. Brian Nieves of Washington; Republican Whip, Rep. Timothy Jones of Eureka; Rep. Jim Lembke of St. Louis; Rep. Dwight Scharnhorst of Manchester and Rep. Charles Portwood of Ballwin and and many others.

“I am deeply honored by the support of my colleagues in the legislature” said Cunningham “I believe I earned their support because they have witnessed my work ethic and my commitment to Missourians first hand.”

In addition to the outpouring of support from local legislators, Cunningham has gained major endorsements or perfect voting records from a broad range of St. Louis area and state groups; including the Missouri Eagle Forum, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the St. Louis Police Officers Union.

Citing her 100% pro-small business voting record, NFIB State Director, Brad Jones, said Cunningham has a “deep commitment to the survival and success of Missouri’s small-business economy.” Additionally, Noreen McCann of Missouri Eagle Forum said Cunningham’s eight years of service and leadership on pro-life and pro-family issues in the Missouri House gained their exclusive endorsement for the 7th District Senate seat.

The recent additions to Cunningham’s long list of endorsements have led many to declare her the frontrunner to replace term-limited Senator John Loudon; however, Cunningham has said she remains humble and encouraged about the election:

“We are in a great position as we head into the final weeks of this primary but endorsements alone will not win an election. This election will be about improving the quality of life for all of the citizens in the district.”

I don’t live in that district. If I did, my thinking is this: If Portwood is for her, I’m voting for someone else!

These guys are considered “major endorsements”??? If I walked up to 100 Republican voters in that district, how many do you think would be able to identify even ONE of these legislators?

If these representatives are major endorsements, Cunningham’s candidacy is about as inevitable as Hillary Clinton’s.

Hillary Clinton.. Hmm woman who has no business in office running for her husbands seat.. sounds like what John Loudon’s wife is doing don’t you think?

You want to talk about major endorsements, skeptic, lets talk about the endorsement Jane got from John Ashcroft. And if you think people are not smart enough to know who he is, ill inform them right now. He was the United States Attorney General, Missouri Governor, and a United States Senator just to name a few.

The Ashcroft thing is two months old. Yesterday’s anouncement of “major endorsements” listed legislators that few have even heard of. Ashcroft was not mentioned.

I’ve heard of all of them.

If you haven’t heard of Eagle forum or any of these legislators then that says a lot about your political knowledge… sorry but it’s true

    Go Jane!!!!

I agree with Ronnie, I’m not sure bragging about Chuck Portwood, the drunk driver who crashed into someone’s pool and then left the scene of the accident, is really the best idea. But if that is all Jane has, then go ahead…

Portwood did good work in the house, he may have messed up a few times in his life, kind of big, but he did do good work…

Mark who does Neal St. Onge have? AFL-CIO??? LOL! Maybe he can get ACORN to campaign for him and not pay the ACORN workers after the election like Claire (Aunt Bea) McCaskill.

Haha… Mark/Neal, did you not read the fact that the majority of legislators are supporting Jane as well as John Ashcroft, and most area mayors? The best you can can do is name one off a long list and say that he got in a wreck? Neal and Gina would kill for any endorsement at this point. Word is their own dogs are jumping ship.

    Wilson,

I think John Loudon’s endorsements are handed down to Gina automatically.

  • 14 Mark // Jul 15, 2008 at 12:42 am

Actually, the six area mayors that Jane has said are endorsing her have come out to say that no, they are not. And I would consider it to be a major stretch to say that “the majority of legislators are supporting Jane.” That is a blatant hyperbole if you ask me.

And no, I didn’t just pick out a name and say he had a wreck. I gave an example of the pathetic history of one of the names on the list. He was drunk during his accident and proceeded to drunkingly leave the scene. For a total of three major offenses. And in case you forgot, after this happened, all of his responsibility and leadership positions were revoked.

Neal and Gina both have plenty of endorsements. And as far as I know, no one has jumped ship.

Is the best YOU can do making up false rumors?

Hmmm, after reading these comments I must say-Mark you are a joke. Which mayors specifically aren’t endorsing Jane? Name them, which mayors have endorsed John Loudon’s wife or Neal St. Onge?

  • 16 Wilson // Jul 15, 2008 at 12:00 pm

Mark/Mary Kay or Gina… You mean his leadership was revoked? This seems familiar to a certain candidate’s husband doesn’t it?

Once again… Name one of these mayors.

    Whos making rumors?

I’m sorry for lying! I just can’t contain my love for Neal St Onge, he’s just such a teddy bear!

  • 18 Saint Onge of AFCL-CIO // Jul 15, 2008 at 4:21 pm

Thank you all for your support. I will be sure to bankrupt businesses and guarantee a 30 dollar minimum wage for the people.

    I love union bosses!!!!!!!!!

    Smooches!
