Harris Campaign Launches Web Video Urging Supporters to Email Speaker Jetton

March 20th, 2008 by mopns · No Comments

Columbia – The campaign of Representative Jeff Harris, a candidate for Attorney General, launched a web video urging supporters to press House Speaker Rod Jetton to stop blocking legislation sponsored by Harris in the Missouri House. The campaign is focusing on a bill sponsored by Harris that would give local control to communities a voice in where CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations) are located. Harris also has sponsored a bill that would prevent CAFOs from being sited near parks and historic sites.

“This issue affects all Missourians,” Harris said. “While CAFO may seem like a ‘rural issue,’ the growth of CAFOs in our state potentially jeopardizes clean drinking water and the quality of life of all Missourians. It’s time for Republicans in this state to stop blindly supporting the whims of corporate agriculture and to start listening to the voice of reason in local communities all over this state.”
