JEFFERSON CITY _ In another pathetic attempt to deceive Missourians about his campaign finance record, Jay Nixon is ignoring his own decision to accept more than a quarter of a million dollars in campaign cash from political committees including more than $76,000 in a last-minute cash grab prior to the implementation of a law prohibiting such contributions.

In an obvious act of hypocrisy, Nixon is proposing limiting how much money legislative and party committees can spend even though he accepted more than $280,000 in political party committee contributions from 2004 through December of 2006 including $82,370 in the final month of 2006 right before a law lifting campaign limits halted political committee contributions. In an example of his desperate money grab, Nixon received $76,450 from campaign committees in the final five days of 2006, according to Missouri Ethics Commission filings.
