Tip Line: Jetton/Jackson to Tour State

June 18th, 2007 by mopns · No Comments

Insiders tell the Missouri Political News Service that patience is beginning to wear thin for lame duck Speaker Rod Jetton. Activists feel that Jetton’s questionable ethics – including soliciting clients for his consulting business while at the Capitol – and now his fly around tour with former state representative and pilot Jack Jackson, is very close to breaking the proverbial camel’s back.

MOPNS has learned that the duo will be flying to Lebanon, St. Joseph, Jefferson City, Waynesville, Poplar Bluff, Hannibal, Kirksville, Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, Joplin, and St. Louis. The speculation is that a disgruntled Jackson signed up to ferry Jetton around the state because of his anger at the governor for allegedly supporting Sandra Thomas in last year’s Republican auditor’s primary. Upon learning of the tour, a concerned activist wrote this to us:

“With Governor Blunt in a tough re-election fight next year with Nixon, why is Jetton flying around the state upstaging the Governor? This move is about what you’d expect from Missouri’s Charlie Brown and Snoopy combo.”

MOPNS will continue to investigate.
