“I’m Fed Up With Sen. Kit Bond”

Senators Claire McCaskill and Kit Bond represent the great state of Missouri (or as our lucky Oklahoma neighbors represented by Tom Coburn would say – Sorry State of Misery). I worked hard to defeat Sen. McCaskill, working phone banks, stuffing envelopes, donating money, attending rallies (yeah, I know, that’s not much work), but she defeated Sen. Talent anyway. Now, she’s turning into my favorite senator. And yes, that’s like saying I prefer root canals over braces.

Kit has been faithful many times during the years, and he has been a good Governor and Senator. I think part of the problem is that he has been in politics for my entire lifetime (and I’ve passed the legal drinking age more than twice) and probably his entire lifetime as well. He probably just needs a dose of real life to go in with his political career.

Ok, what am I mad about, you ask? Let me count the ways:

1. He voted for the watered down House ethics reforms. If you guys will remember, when the Ds swept in with their promises of, “Meet your new boss, who’s not just like your old boss.” We knew they were lying, but there was a narrow window of opportunity when the voters were still watching and wondering how it would all work out. The Ds (or at least a few of them) thought they needed a veneer of real life ethics and the Rs had a chance to get some honest to goodness necessary reforms enacted. The Senate (starring my hero, Sen. Coburn) filibustered and embarrassed the Ds into slipping a few real teeth into a generally toothless reform.

The House, ruled by Queen Pelosi and the Joker from PA, had no such constraint and made a cheap imitation. My illustrious Senators both voted for the House version, lest anyone tie their hands, thus keeping them from freely plundering the till.

2. SCHIP. Read more…

Anyone that thinks there is any difference between the democrats and the republicans on the whole haven’t been paying attention to the voting records of their own policians.
Real change only occurs when you actually vote to CHANGE government, not a vote of continuance of the status quo with the opposite party.
