Harris Jumps On Sunshine Law Bandwagon; Baghdad Tony Giddy

As we’ve reported to you often, Baghdad Tony Messenger – who couldn’t see a worthwhile story even if it came up to him and slapped him upside the head – won’t let go of the Sunshine Law tangent he’s currently on. ‘Ol Baghdad will need a new keyboard after writing the below story we excerpted. Why? Because it will be rendered useless due to all of the slobber he deposited on it thinking somebody was actually listening to him:

Tony Messenger:

Missouri House member Jeff Harris of Columbia, also a Democratic candidate for attorney general, is suggesting that if elected to the AG’s office he’ll create a special Sunshine Law enforcement unit. (See news release below). I have no doubt Harris is serious about this. He has a good Sunshine Law record. But the potential problem is evident in his posting on Jason Rosenbaum’s blogt in which MU professor Charles Davis points out that the AG’s office sometimes ignores some Sunshine cases for political reasons. No matter who the AG is, that’s still a possibility.

What I’d really like to see happen is to see Harris on the Democratic side and state Rep. Shane Schoeller on the Republican side, get together and convince the House to hold hearings about improving the Sunshine Law. It has to be a bipartisan effort. Perhaps the AG special unit has merit.
