House OKs $1 mil for MARET Center

More than $3 million in federal grants for local energy and water projects – including $1 million for Crowder College’s Missouri alternative Renewable Energy Technology Center -met House approval recently, Congressman Roy Blunt’s office announced Thursday.

“Energy independence should be our national goal over the next generation,” said Blunt in a prepared statement. “Conservation and efficiency is an essential part of that goal. Crowder College’s MARET will be a hands-on laboratory to develop applications to create housing, appliances and office buildings that reduce the demand for energy. MARET will also be a leader in the use of renewable energy sources.”

“We appreciate Congressman Blunt’s support of the MARET center and research into alternative energy sources,” said Alan Marble, president of Crowder College. Read more…
