McCaskill Slams New Media; Questions “Quality”

May 8th, 2009 by MarkTwain · No Comments

As the Democrats diligently go about the process of nationalizing the banking and auto industries, Senators’ McCaskill and Kerry gives us a clue as to what industry they’d like to see nationalized next with a bailout or “stimulus” package. With President Obama decrying every problem in this country a crisis, we hardly see the death of a biased – and in deep denial of it – left wing media a crisis worthy of a Senate hearing.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) called the hearing because he sees newspapers as an “endangered species,” one that has traditionally provided the vast bulk of investigative and public interest reporting.

Kerry and several other senators, particularly Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), said they saw websites and amateur reporters providing information, but not of the quantity or quality of old line news organizations. Read more…

We guess the George Bush fake documents story that disgraced Dan Rather tried to foist on the country just weeks before an election is McCaskill and Kerry’s idea of “quality investigative” journalism? Or maybe its the lovefest we’re currently witnessing with Obama? Even left wing blogger Arriana Huffington pooh poohs the idea of bailing out newspapers:

Huffington told the senators and newspaper folk they should stop clinging to the past and submit to an emerging “pro-am model,” in which amateur reporters get guidance from professional journalists and editors.

I welcome all the upstarts. News consumers need more, not less. But even most of the newcomers concede that newspapers still provide the bulk of the news. And Huffington gets a little ahead of the facts when she claims that powerful new journalism is blooming in every corner of the nation.

Apparently Claire doesn’t appreciate critical analysis many of us provide that isn’t favorable to her cause. They are going to work hard to shut the right side of the blog universe up. I’d like to shut her up.

McCaskill is the biggest hypocrite in Washington. She and her husband hide their millions in the Cayman Islands, without paying taxes, and yet she claims to support Obama’s call to get rich people to pay their fare share.

She needs to come clean once and for all about her wealth and the disgusting ways she and her husband earned their millions on the backs of vulnerable senior citizens.
