Lobbyist Gephardt Signs Electronic Medical Records Storage Company

March 24th, 2009 by mopns · No Comments

We’ve chronicled the rather lucrative lobbying career Dick Gepahardt has embarked upon since leaving Congress. Mr. Gephardt’s expansive client list range from “Big Coal to auto parts manufacturers – two industries that are not exactly favorites on the limousine liberal cocktail circuit.

The man who once stated that successful people have “won life’s lottery” is coming back to his populist roots. Surprise surprise, Gephardt is cashing in on his Congressional service and has signed another lobbying client, the real surprise is that this client is more in line with Mr. Gephardt’s and President Obama’s socialist view of health care reform.

MyMedicalRecords, Inc. (collectively, “MMR”) provides consumer-controlled Personal Health Records (“PHRs”)  and electronic safe deposit box storage solutions , announced that the Honorable Richard A. Gephardt, a member of MyMedicalRecords, Inc.’s Board of Advisors since 2007, will work with MMR to promote its mission of educating the public on the importance of starting a PHR now.

Mr. Gephardt will also assist MMR in identifying opportunities to receive stimulus funds to subsidize the cost of getting an easy-to-use Personal Health Record into millions of American households sooner than later. Computerized health records are a centerpiece of the nation’s healthcare reform. Educating consumers on the importance of having a secure easy-to-use PHR can help reduce healthcare costs by eliminating duplicate testing and preventing medical errors while potentially helping to save lives well in advance of the 19 billion dollars in stimulus funds flowing into the marketplace.

We’re all for making record keeping easier for health care providers, we’re just very suspicious of giving these statists the little crack in the door they need to begin the path towards socializing medicine.
