Guess Which Missouri Senator Supports Automaker Bailout?

November 17th, 2008 by mopns · No Comments

What a historic and strange year we’re having in politics! First, an African American is elected president of the United States. And now we have Democrat Claire McCaskill not supporting a bail out of the Auto industry and her UAW constituents, (“We are going to have to do more to protect tax dollars for me to vote for this.”) while Republican Kit Bond (one of two Republican senators) readily jumps on the pork bandwagon to support it.

From the Triad Freedom blog:

“Just giving them $25 billion doesn’t change anything,” Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, the Senate’s second-ranking Republican, said on Fox News Sunday. “It just puts off for six months or so the day of reckoning.”

Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the senior Republican on the Senate banking committee, called the plan “a road to nowhere.” He called the “Big Three” — Detroit’s three major automakers — “a dinosaur,” and said on NBC’s Meet the Press that they are “not building the right products. … They don’t innovate.” Read more…

To get on board a bailout this early must mean that Missouri’s “king of pork” sees two Carnahans’ gaining on him in his rearview mirror.
