Auditor: State Law Doesn’t Allow Political Use of State Cars

JEFFERSON CITY | There is no law that allows Missouri’s elected officials to use state-issued vehicles for political purposes, even if they later reimburse the state, an audit released today said.

The conclusion from State Auditor Susan Montee, a Democrat, came as part of an audit of Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder’s office. Kinder, a Republican, had been using his state-issued car to attend political events but had been reimbursing the for mileage. Read more…
