Jay Nixon Wins “Tin Ear” Award

October 15th, 2007 by mopns · No Comments

After recently admiting to lying to the state auditor regarding the use of his official vehicle, and two months after MOPNS exposed him for publishing -at taxpayer’s expense– pamphlets titled “Know Your Rights” in Spanish, Attorney General Jay Nixon wins our first ever “Tin Ear” award for politicians. The two instances we cite above make Mr. Nixon the obvious frontrunner, but today’s press release from his office made his selection unamnimous:

Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon is making it easier for Missourians to report employers who try to take unfair and illegal advantages, both of their employees and of their business competitors who play by the rules. Nixon today unveiled the Employer Workforce Accountability Complaint Form, a new feature on his Web site (ago.mo.gov) that allows anyone to report information on an employer engaging in improper activity to the Attorney General’s Office.

Where do we even start with the irony and hypocrisy presented here? An attorney general, who has for years taken “unfair and illegal advantage” by using his official vehicle for politiking, establishes a website that allows people to report employers who are “take[ing] “unfair and illegal advantage.” Two questions Mr. Nixon? (1)Where was this website when you were engaging in practices that gave you an “unfair and illegal advanatge?” (2) Can this website be used to report employers who hire illegal aliens?
